UniMAC Deepens Student-Centred Governance with Swearing-In of New GRASAG Executives

In a clear demonstration of its commitment to participatory governance and student-centred development, the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has taken another bold step by officially swearing in, new set of graduate student leaders forming the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG) UniMAC Executives.

Presided over by the Speaker of the Senate, Mr. Curtis Owusu Akomeah, the ceremony formally inducted the newly elected executives of GRASAG-UniMAC into key leadership positions. The Executives are made up of Mr. Daniel Ofori Asante (KODA), President, Don Johnson W. Akyea, Vice-President and Ms. Matilda Mensah Marfo (Tilly Akua Nipaa), General Secretary. The rest are Mr. Charles Mawuena Ahoblie, Organizer, and Ms. Mabel Tetteh, Women’s Commissioner.

The ceremony formed part of a broader institutional drive to reposition UniMAC as a forward-looking, student-centred university where learners are not only beneficiaries but active contributors to governance and decision-making processes.

The ongoing restructuring agenda at student governance following the merger at UniMAC, seeks to strengthen inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration between students and university authorities.

Addressing the newly sworn-in executives, the Speaker of the Senate, Mr. Akomeah charged the executives to lead with innovative strategies that will further cement the reputation of UniMAC as a reputable institution both within Ghana and on the global stage. He encouraged them to embody integrity, responsiveness, and visionary leadership in representing the interests of the graduate student body.
In an earlier statement, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah has reaffirmed the university’s unwavering commitment to working closely with its students to ensure the smooth running of the institution. “A truly progressive university thrives on the active involvement of its students. A student-centred system is not merely an aspiration but a necessity for fostering innovation, accountability, and shared ownership of our institutional growth,” the Vice-Chancellor emphasised.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated executives, the GRASAG President, Mr. Daniel Ofori Asante expressed profound appreciation to the University Council, administration, Senate, outgoing executives, and the entire Graduate School for the confidence reposed in them. He pledged to justify the trust placed in them through dedicated service and impactful leadership.
