The School of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Media, Arts and Communication, invites researchers, academics, media practitioners, policy makers, industry professionals and students to submit abstracts for the first ever State of Journalism, Media and Communication Conference (SJMCC 2026).

SJMCC is a platform for academics, researchers, scholars and industry experts to present papers and critically discuss emerging issues in the journalism, media and communication field from varying perspectives.

Paper submissions can be related to, but not limited to, the following areas:

AI, the media, journalism and communication in the new age
Impact of technology on media and democracy
Fact checking, misinformation and disinformation
Media's role in development
Media ownership and business models in the current age
State of media, journalism and communication education
Global perspectives on media and communication
Science, risk, health and environmental journalism
Investigative journalism, anti-corruption reportage and processes

Submission Guidelines

Authors should submit an abstract of 200–300 words. The abstract must clearly outline the research problem, underlying assumptions, main arguments, objectives and research questions, as well as the theoretical framework and research methods employed. Where applicable, authors should also briefly indicate key findings.

Submissions must present original research and demonstrate strong potential to contribute meaningfully to existing knowledge and ongoing scholarly debates in journalism, media, and communication.
