Course Description

This course provides participants the opportunity to explore the role of communication models, approaches, strategies, and media in development contexts, as well as the strategic use of communication to promote social change. It examines how communication can be employed across different sectors of society to advance development goals.

The course incorporates case studies, class presentations, group discussions, and interactive exercises aimed at preparing participants to design and present effective communication strategies for societal improvement.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the historical and contemporary roles of communication in development and social change (CDSC).
  2. Apply communication models, strategies, and techniques to address contemporary social, political, economic, and environmental issues.
  3. Utilize media—including traditional, conventional, and new media—to implement campaigns fostering sustainable social, economic, and environmental change.
  4. Design, implement, and evaluate a CDSC strategy or campaign.
