Course Description

This immersive and intensive certificate course is designed to transform passionate storytellers into professional documentary narrative developers. Moving beyond basic camera operation, the curriculum focuses entirely on the art and ethical responsibility of crafting compelling, non-fiction narratives that resonate with audiences and drive social impact.

Participants will be guided through the complete documentary development cycle—from initial concept development and rigorous research to securing access, conducting sensitive interviews, and shaping the narrative structure into a final, powerful piece.

The program emphasizes dramatic structure, ethical storytelling, visual language, and sound design unique to the documentary format. Participants will master the balance between journalistic integrity and artistic vision, developing character arcs, building tension in real-life settings, and addressing practical considerations such as budgeting, legal clearances, and strategic distribution via festivals, streaming platforms, and broadcast channels.

By the end of the course, participants will have the foundational skills, ethical framework, and creative confidence to pitch, plan, and develop a complete narrative blueprint for a short documentary project.
