The newly appointed Chancellor of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC), Mr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, paid a working visit to the University’s Executive Management on Wednesday, 26th August, 2026, as part of his familiarisation with the University, following his appointment.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Chancellor to formally meet and engage with the University’s Executive Management on his vision and expectations for contributing to the growth and development of UniMAC.
Welcoming the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, expressed the Executive Management’s appreciation for the visit and assured him of their commitment to work closely with him to advance the interests of the University.
Prof. Opoku Mensah also noted that the Chancellor had earlier undertaken a tour of some of the University’s facilities to gain first-hand insight into the institution, its operations and infrastructure, a notable action attesting to his commitment to advance the growth of UniMAC.
In his remarks, Mr. Ofori Sarpong expressed his appreciation to the Governing Council and Management for the confidence reposed in him and for the opportunity to serve as the first Chancellor of the UniMAC.
He explained that his visit was primarily to formally meet the Executive Management, express his appreciation for the warm reception and begin discussions on the path ahead. He emphasised his readiness to work collaboratively with Management and other stakeholders, to contribute to the continued growth and development of UniMAC.
The Chancellor expressed his desire to work with the University to chart a historic path for UniMAC, with particular focus on strengthening the University’s infrastructure, increasing student enrolment and enhancing the visibility and profile of the institution.
He also underscored the importance of positioning UniMAC as a leading institution in media, arts, communication and related fields, while leveraging its unique mandate and potential for greater national and international recognition.
It is worth noting that, Dr. Sarpong was recently announced as the first Chancellor of UniMAC. His appointment underscores the University’s determination to advance the growth and excellence of the only specialised University in Ghana and West Africa, dedicated to the study of media, arts and communication education.
