Admission of Prospective Applicants to Newly Introduced Postgraduate Programmes for the 2023/2024 Academic Year

Programme Synopsis

The MA/MPhil in Political Communication Management is an interdisciplinary programme intended to provide both theory-based training and practical strategies across multiple fields including politics, management, marketing, social psychology, and philosophy alongside rigorous research using an applied interdisciplinary approach.  The programme will fit the needs of a wide range of institutional contexts including the specific needs of current and future professionals in public institutions and political parties, advocacy groups, civil society organizations and nonprofit organizations. The MPhil component of the programme is specifically designed to train future academics and researchers in this emerging field who will conduct top-notch empirical research and teaching to advance the field especially in the era of new media and its accompanying challenges and message clutter in an increasingly contentious political space.

Admission Requirements

A. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY

Applicants must:

  1. Possess a Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Political Communication Management from any recognised university accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission with a CGPA of 2.5 or better.
  2. Submit a transcript of academic record.
  3. Submit a 4–5-page research proposal based on a relevant topic of interest.

B. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (Top-Up)

Applicants must possess:

  1. Possess a Master of Arts (MA) Degree from any recognised university accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission with a CGPA of 3.0 or better can be considered for admission. There will not be any coursework exemptions for such applicants.
  2. Submit a transcript of academic record.
  3. Submit a 4–5-page research proposal based on a relevant topic of interest.

C. MASTER OF ARTS

i. A bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) or any accredited/recognized University, with at least a Second-Class Lower Division.

                                                                       Or

A bachelor’s degree in other disciplines from any reputable University with at least Second-Class Lower Division.

ii. A bachelor’s degree from any reputable University with a Third Class and 4-year relevant working experience.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

International applicants may be admitted based on qualifications from their home countries for which equivalence shall be determined by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and submitted to the University.

 

Mode: Regular and weekend

Regular Mode: These are 15-month intensive programmes based on the semester system. Lectures start at 3.00 p.m. each day (Monday-Thursday).

Weekend Mode: These are 15 months-intensive programmes based on the semester system with lectures on Friday at 3.00 pm and Saturday at 7.30 am.

GH¢300.00

HOW TO APPLY:

  1. An applicant must pay the relevant application fee at any Prudential Bank or Ghana Post branch by providing name and telephone number or by using any of the following electronic options: mobile money (all network) via ropaygh.com.
  2. Applicants will be provided with their serial number and pin at the bank, Ghana Post or via Momo receipt which will grant access to the Online Admission Portal.
  3. Applicants should then proceed to the Online Admission Portal: http://admissions.unimac.edu.gh to begin the application process.
  4. Once the process has been completed, the applicant must print out a copy of the completed application form together with one passport photograph and supporting documents to the address below.
